Thomas Patterson, 79, died December 22, 2020 after a courageous two-year battle with lung cancer. He leaves his cherished wife Susann of 26 years.
Tom was graduated from the Bourne school system and continued his education at the Wentworth Institute in Boston. He later became a well-respected Lieutenant in the Bourne Fire Department. He incorporated the Tom Patterson Construction Company Inc. in 1975 and built it for 45 years. He prided himself on the design and excavation style of each commercial building his company raised, calling them his “Patterson Buildings”. The buildings flourished on the Upper Cape and expanded his business as well. The Patterson Construction Company Inc. built many investment properties for future rentals, much as his great grandfather did before him. One of Tom’s most notable qualities was his innate ability to find the strongest positive quality in all men working with him and building on that feature.
In addition to his wife, Susann, Tom is survived by his daughter Tamara; his son Shawn; grandson Joshua; and 3 great grandchildren. He also leaves a large stepfamily of 2 daughters; 2 sons; and 11 grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves those he considered his family his longtime friend, James Stowe. He was predeceased by his Mother, Adoptive Father, his beloved grandfather, Bourne Fire Chief J.T Wallace, and his loving grandson, Cole McMahon.
