Mildred M. Ramalho, 90, of Bridgewater died peacefully on January 5th Mildred was the loving daughter of the late Frank and Florina (St. Pierre) Boyd. Mildred grew up in New Brunswick and raised her girls in Newfoundland.
She married a young soldier Arthur J. Ramalho on April 15, 1959 and the two would settle in Bridgewater, MA where Arthur had relatives. Mildred was a devoted homemaker who made sure her girls always had everything they needed. She believed in the concept of saving money and always had a job. She worked for many years for Potvin Shoe, JJ Newbury, Foxmore, and later was a clerk for Sears. Arthur and Mildred loved to entertain, as Arthur’s band often played around town or at local venues. They both loved jazz and spent many hours with family and friends, listening to old records and having a good time.
Mildred was fiercely independent, and when she got her license to drive (only after her youngest graduated from high school) there was no stopping her. She loved to drive, pick up her friends or daughters and go shopping and making a day of it. Mildred was a warm, sweet, funny person who was well liked. She will be missed by all who knew her.
