Margaret W. Abrahamson

Margaret W. Abrahamson, 94 of Mashpee, formerly of Wellesley and Cotuit, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Carl Abrahamson of 62 years.

Margaret was born and raised in Arlington, Ma where she graduated High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Fitchburg State Teachers College and worked as an elementary school teacher in Newton, Ma. She also worked as a book keeper in the family business, Shattuck Hardware of Arlington. After her marriage in 1949 to Robert, they moved to Natick and then to Wellesley, where she lived in the same house for sixty-two years. Her long time neighbors on Dexter Road hold a special place in her heart.  Cape Cod was also a special place, and the family along with long time friends the Jones, spent many a summer building a house in Cotuit.

Margaret was an active member of her church St. Andrews Episcopal in Wellesley, serving on the pastoral council, teaching Sunday school, as choir mother, knitting with the knitting group, and helping with receptions and to prepare meals for Rosie’s Place, a homeless shelter for women. She also enjoyed gardening, and was a member of the Wellesley Arts and Crafts Guild. Margaret loved to bake and was known for her wheat germ and Swedish breads along with her pies and muffins which she brought to family and neighborhood gatherings.

She was extremely passionate about her New England sports teams and was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Patriots, and the Celtics. She also loved playing cards and board games and won many a game of Mischief and scrabble against her late husband, children and family members.

Margaret is survived by two children, Lisa Louise Nagel and husband B. Michael Nagel of Cotuit, Karl Reid Abrahamson and wife Francoise McAree of Providence, RI, two grandchildren Kyle Patrick Nagel of Chicago, Cory Michael Nagel of Boston, her brother John “Jack” Lewis Wheatley Jr. of Bedford, sister-in law Mona Wheatley of Dallas, and the aunt of John Lewis Wheatley III, Linda Ann Wheatley and Allison Wheatley Bovard. She was predeceased by her daughter Kristen Lee Abrahamson.

Services will be held sometime in the spring at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church of Wellesley.
