Manuel “Manny” Desouza

Manuel ”Manny”  DeSouza, 87, of East Falmouth, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020. He was one of eight children, born to Antone and Margaret (Bento) DeSouza from Waquoit. He was a loving brother, husband, father of six and grandfather of 12. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War serving in the Navy before beginning a thirty-year career with the Federal Aviation Administration at Otis Air Base.

Manny was a lifelong resident of Falmouth and loved his hometown. He spent many hours on the water boating, fishing and crabbing. He knew the history of his town and loved to watch the changes over the years. He was content to be connected to his place. He could be seen walking and riding his bike throughout the neighborhood each day. Manny kept his old friends and made new friends easily, chatting with everyone he met. He showed his devotion through acts of kindness; mowing lawns and plowing snow or lending his skill to projects for neighbors and family.

Manny had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved a good laugh and happy song. He and his brothers and sisters would harmonize at family events much to the delight of all. In his younger days he was always ready for a game of softball, to shoot hoops or play cards. He was an avid bowler. He adored animals, taking care of stray cats and feeding and watching the birds and squirrels in his yard.

His children will remember his life lessons and his love of life and are grateful for his support and love.
