Manuel David Sylvester, 64 of East Falmouth, the beloved husband of Audrey (Poulos) Sylvester passed away September 6 at home from a recent diagnosis of cancer. The son of Manuel (Sandra) Sylvester of East Falmouth and Constance (Peter) Maderios of Plymouth. Dave grew up in Buzzards Bay and was a 1973 graduate of Upper Cape Technical School. At the age of 17, Dave enlisted in the Army and served as a proud member of the 82nd Airborne Division.
He spent 11 years in Alaska, six of which were in the Army. Dave was one of a kind with many interests. When he moved to Falmouth to raise his daughter, Nicole as a single dad, he worked as a chef, fence installer, and found his niche as a foreman at Cape and Island Tennis & Track Company in Bourne for over 29 years.
Dave made friends easily and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Dave loved his; Dobermans, Harley, computer games, and a good book. He adored all of his grandchildren.
Besides Dave’s wife and parents, he leaves his sisters Betty (David) Gendron of East Falmouth, Kathy (Peter) Shea of Centerville, and William Silvers of Bourne. His daughters Nicole Gould of Washington and Rachel Robert of Wareham. His grandchildren Caleb and Alexander Ellis of Wareham, Brenden, Micah, Taryn Gould, and Tinlee Wilson of Washington. He also leaves numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Dave was predeceased by his brother Daniel Eaton. He will also be missed by his beloved Shyla and Panzer.
Visiting hours will be held from 4-6pm on Wednesday, September 16th at Chapman, Cole, and Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth. At 10am on Thursday, September 17th there will be a ‘Last Ride’ Military Procession from Falmouth High School Brick Kiln Road lot located at the corner of Brick Kiln Rd and Gifford Street, to the National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne, for an interment service with Army honors; arrival time 11:15 for an 11:30am service.
