Kelly Ryan Dockery (Thacher), 39, of Sandwich, formerly of Yarmouthport, passed peacefully on February 14, 2021 in Barnstable, MA. She was the loving wife of Brian Dockery and devoted mother to three beautiful daughters, Peyton, Khloe and Willow. Kelly grew up in Yarmouth Port, daughter of Fred and Mary Beth Thacher. She graduated from Harwich High School in 2000 and was a 1,000 point scorer for the Harwich Rough Riders Basketball Team where she was coached by her father. Kelly continued her education at University of Massachusetts, Amherst where she received a bachelor’s degree in Communications and furthered her studies at Barry University in Florida where she obtained an additional bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Kelly had a generous heart for all animals, especially dogs and loved several of them throughout her life, with her favorite being Mr. Riley James. She was also a talented artist and created many works of art that are treasured by family and friends. Kelly loved being outside and enjoyed long walks with her daughters. She treasured her childhood memories of fishing with her father and long boating days at Sandy Neck Beach. Kelly made friends easily as she was always encouraging and extremely loyal. Kelly’s compassion for others brought her to work as an RN at Cape Cod Hospital in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit where she excelled and was loved by her patients.
In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by her mother Mary Beth Thacher of Sagamore Beach, MA, her sister and brother-in-law Megan and Brendan Sharpe of Sagamore Beach,MA, sister and brother-in-law Lyndsay and Mike Duarte of Rochester, MA, brother and sister-in-law Joseph Thacher and Ashley Stevens of Harwich, MA and brother Matthew Thacher of Hanover, MA. She will also be very much missed by her aunt and uncle, Eileen and George Gillmore of Cotuit, MA and her grandfathers, Jack McGowan of New Jersey and David Ryan of North Carolina. Her memory will live on through her many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. The family is comforted in the knowledge that she is now reunited with her father and several grandparents.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 1, 2021 at 10am at Christ the King Church 3 Job’s fishing Rd. Mashpee, Ma. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Animal Rescue League - Brewster Shelter at 3981 Main St, Brewster, MA 02631.
