Kaila J. Oravec

FALMOUTH - Kaila Jean Oravec, age 29, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 8th.  She was born in Santa Cruz, CA, the beloved daughter of Linda J. Dias and Gregory C. Oravec. Kaila was first raised in Clarks Summit, PA and later moved to Cape Cod, MA where she attended Bourne and Falmouth Schools.

Kaila was always brilliant and kind and the perfect kind of quirky. Life wasn’t always easy but she got up every day and accomplished things others twice her age hadn’t before completing high school. Kaila had a quiet, yet fierce determination to get where she wanted to be. She had the kindest heart and always made time for the people she loved - no matter how busy she was. Kaila was an incredible sister and daughter, and many remarked of her ability to build bridges with others and support everyone around her. She was resiliency and grace personified.

By age 15 Kaila was already volunteering at Falmouth Hospital and had obtained her CNA license. She worked full time as a CNA at JML while attending Falmouth High School, graduating in 2008. She went on to achieve her RN in nursing from Brockton Hospital School of Nursing and worked at St. Luke’s Hospital for 8 years as a skilled and caring nurse. In May of this year she graduated from Regis College as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Kaila was beyond excited to begin her dream job as a Nurse Practitioner with Prospect Hill Consultants, Bourne MA.

Kaila’s favorite past times included  traveling, visiting with her family, cooking and baking for others, seeing movies with friends and family, and indulging in a new book.

Kaila is survived by her mother Linda Dias and step-father Manuel Dias; her father Greg Oravec, her siblings Francis and Abbie Dougherty and their father Edward Dougherty; her grandmothers Jean Brown and Jean Oravec; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. She will be dearly missed.

There will be a private service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kaila Oravec Memorial Scholarship for students pursuing a career in helping others. Checks can be mailed to Cape Cod 5, 668 Main St., Falmouth MA 02540.
