Joanne G. Mesinger

Our mom, Joanne (JoJo) Mesinger, born on August 11,1930, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of July 16, 2020. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Fred (Poppy) and her children; Mark, Lisa, and Spike, her son-in-law, Dave Pontius, and daughter-in-law, Judy Mesinger. Jo also has three grandchildren; Sam (wife Kristen), Jake (wife Amy) and Alison and three great grandchildren; Charlotte, Miller, and Lily.Jo was sharp, sophisticated, refined, bubbly, warm, always smiling and inclusive of everyone. She was a voracious reader, loved fashion, loved her wine and above all, loved her politics. Over the years our friends would come over just to hang out with JoJo and Poppy. They provided all with a warm, safe haven where spirits ran high and laughter was contagious. Jo and Fred spent half their married lives in Chappaqua, New York, where we attended school and the other half on Cape Cod, residing in Truro, Marstons Mills and Osterville. JoJo was the soul of the family, the cheerleader, caretaker, and ruler of the roost. She loved sailing with Poppy in their Cat Boat, and on the many self-charter boats where she had the fortitude to cook below deck. She was also the proud mother of the winning H Class team in the 2010 Figawi Race. Jo and Fred also loved listening to music together and were seen “Cutting the Rug” on many an occasion. They had many friends from the Wianno Yacht Club and the Osterville Men’s club, who have been very supportive of our family in this time of grief. We love you, JoJo, so much and miss you dearly. Rest, knowing your family will love you forever and we will all watch out for and take care of Poppy and ourselves just as you wanted. The date and time of the Memorial Service will be posted at a later date. We will be sensitive to the Covid protocol.
