Fay Gertrude Snow

“Ever has it been that love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation.” - Kahlil Gibran

In the early evening of December 25, Christmas Day 2020, Fay Snow, of Falmouth MA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. Born and raised in Walpole MA, to the late Joseph W. Snow and Gladys Eva Sawyer (Paccioretti), she graduated Walpole high School and had briefly attended school in Los Angeles, CA.

Fay has resided in Falmouth and Mashpee over the past thirty plus years, where she moved to be near family and worked for the Steamship Authority.

Fay previously resided in Medford, Massachusetts where she and her first husband, The Honorable James K. Kurker, former Mayor of Medford, raised their family. As the former “First Lady of Medford”, Fay worked tirelessly with a committee lead by Danny Thomas for ALSAC (American Lebanese, Syrian, Associated Charities), raising money and awareness for St. Jude Research Hospital for Children. Due to her efforts she was voted one of the United States’ women of the year.

Her charitable nature, kind heart and acceptance of all people were some of her most admirable traits. She not only opened her heart to others, she opened her home. No matter social/financial status, any and all who needed a meal, a friend, a parent figure, a place to rest or stay were welcomed by Fay. This kindness carried through the years as she became a compassionate foster parent for the Mentor program of Cape Cod, loving and caring for many children.

Fay was an avid sports fan, often watching and cheering on all New England teams, she also loved golf and especially following the career of Tiger Woods. Anyone who met Fay remembers her quick wit, sassy sense of humor, “tell it like it is” honesty and her spontaneous “live life large” sense of adventure. During the best and worst of times, Fay could make you laugh with her shock and awe comments. Fay had a deep respect and love of nature, which was instilled from her dear Aunt Edith, who had a huge impact on her life.

Fay’s unconditional love and acceptance has been etched into the hearts of countless family members, friends, acquaintances and strangers alike. Her legacy will be carried on through her family and friends as we pay forward the lessons she taught us through her words of wisdom, kindness, acceptance and generosity.

Fay was the cherished mother of Craig Kurker, and his wife Maryellen of Meriden CT, Lynn O’Hara her husband Tom of Mashpee MA, Niki Mills of Mashpee MA, and Ronald Kurker & Iqbal of W. Newton MA. Fay leaves behind her dear brother Milton (Pat) Snow and his wife Margie of Foxborough.

Lovingly known as Mamair, she was the fun and sassy grandmother to Kristi, Garett, Brittany, Casey, Kevin, Craig, Cori, Evan, Attaquin, Billie, Christian and Fallen and proud great grandmother of 11, all of whom were near and dear to her heart.

Fay was predeceased by her brother, Joe Snow of Burbank CA, as well as her son James, who passed away earlier this year.

Due to the current challenges caused by the COVID 19 Pandemic there will be no visitation. A private burial service will be held at a later date.

A celebration of life service, where all may attend to remember Fay will be planned during the spring season. We will post this information once plans have been made. If preferred, you may contact Lynn at nbdlynn@msn.com and/or Niki at nikishair2@gmail.com for details.

You truly are Heroes and a very special group of people. God Bless you All. With heartfelt thanks, Craig, Lynn, Niki, Ron and Jim.

“The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the greatest intention.”
