Eileen A. Hayes, 82, of Falmouth passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 11, 2021. Born in South Boston on June 20, 1938, she was the daughter of John Ambrose Hayes and Catherine F. (O’Donnell) Hayes.
Eileen grew up in South Boston. After graduating from Archbishop Cushing High School, she entered the Sisters of Saint Joseph convent where she was known as Sister Catherine Ambrose. She graduated from Regis College in 1968. She taught at several schools in the Boston area. When she left the convent, she continued her schooling. Eventually, she taught special education students in the Boston Public Schools. She moved to Falmouth in 2002.
Eileen loved chocolate, taking pictures of nature and crocheting. She babysat for many of her nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. She loved watching the ocean in all kind of weather. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Cranberry Hospice for making her last days peaceful and comfortable.
Eileen is survived by her siblings Kathleen Dolan of Sandwich, Francis Hayes of Hernando, FL and Maureen Kehoe of Plymouth and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and one great grandniece. She was predeceased by her brothers John F. Hayes, Joseph A. Hayes and Rev. Paul R. Hayes, S.J.
Visiting hours will be on Thursday, February 18 from 8:30 -9:30AM at Chapman Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at Saint Anthony's Church, 511 Main Street, Falmouth. Private burial will be at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
