Donald A. Chipman

Dennis-Donald “Donny” A. Chipman, loving father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away unexpectedly on April 22, 2020. Donny was born in Hyannis, MA at Cape Cod Hospital to Edward A. and Mary Elizabeth (Young) Chipman on January 8, 1955. He was raised in Harwich, MA and a long time resident of Yarmouth/ Dennis.

He was employed for 20+ years at Station Ave Shell serving the public with his great skills as a car mechanic. Where he always welcomed his customers with a smile and friendly hello. Upon his retirement from Station Ave Shell, he became a part time car part delivery driver for Orleans Auto Supply in Dennis.

Donny is survived by his former wife, Amy; and his two wonderful daughters, Brittney Chipman and her fiancé Wilson Tanon of Dennis; Veronica and her Husband Eric Eldredge of Brewster. He is also survived by his one granddaughter, Gabriella Tanon of Dennis; And although he didn’t like all dogs his fur grand-puppies; Lilly and Kibo held a special place in his heart.

Donny was one of ten children. He is predeceased by his two sisters, Sally Fulcher and Lori Chipman and survived by Judith, Edward, Richard, Janet, Peter, Pamela, and Mary.

In Donny’s earlier years, he enjoyed bowling and friendly card games with friends and family. Also enjoying many years of driving to Seekonk to watch the car races which later turned to bi-weekly visits with his long time friend, Jeff Nickerson to continue watching NASCAR on TV.

His daughters and granddaughter spend time playing organized sports. Donny, a devoted father and grandfather was an avid supporter and was always seen on the sidelines cheering them on during Sunday Co-Ed Softball, the Dennis Women’s Softball league, Women’s Basketball League and Chaos Travel softball. By the end of the season opener, he always knew the names of every player on the team.

At the end of each summer day to wind down from a day of work, Donny found peace and tranquility by sitting in his truck at West Dennis Beach to read his newspaper and do his crossword puzzles while watching the kites fly and wind surfers, surfing.

A Celebration of Life for Donny, will be determined at a later date.
