I was probably 11 or 12, up visiting Wareham for the summer, and Uncle Ben was all set to take me out for a little flight in his plane. I didn't want to admit to any one at the time, but I was absolutely terrified of flying. So on the way to the airfield as we were getting close and you started passing parked planes I finally mustered enough courage to express my total discomfort with the current situation. Uncle Ben, being the guy that he is, took it upon him self to walk me through everything that we where doing and explain things in a way that was comforting and allowed me to understand what was going on. To this day I am still not an avid flyer but I will always be more comfortable in the air thanks to the kind and patient words of my Uncle. Your never ending thirst for the adventure of life brought courage and inspiration to even the most timid of hearts, you will be missed Uncle Ben.

So. Ben as my older cousin took as his duty to really refine my sking abilities. For which I will always be grateful. We were up in NH and we woke up to fresh powder. Ben's presence at LH will be sorely missed. Ben was like a father figure and inspiration to many down at LH including myself. With Ben always at the beach I felt comfort in knowing he was looking out for my kids and friends when I was not there. From showing my nephew the ropes of running an oyster farm to helping assist other young farmers getting started by willing to share his experience and wisdom. I recall a day my son's kite needed repair and Ben just coming off the water let him use his gear. That was Ben always there to help looking out for anyone. He will be missed and my condolences go out to the entire Suddard family.
