Anne Mary Shackett

Anne M. Shackett, 77, of Mashpee passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2020 of natural causes.

Born in Pawtucket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Kieran and Molly (Hoey) Hennessey.  After graduating from St. Mary Academy - Bay View in 1961, she went onto the University of Rhode Island to study Early Childhood Education.

She landed her first teaching job in Pawtucket, Rhode Island right after graduating from college, which kicked off a life-long career of educating, molding, guiding, respecting and cherishing children as an elementary school teacher up until the day she retired on January 1, 2008, coincidentally the day her grandson Jack was born.

She met the love of her life, Kevin Shackett when she was 14. They were married on November 12, 1966. She often referred to Kevin as her best friend with electric sparks.

Anne’s legacy is her true kindness towards every living being/thing on this earth. With unparalleled depth of character, she chose to see the good in everything and everyone that she came in contact with during her life. Her natural happy-go-lucky nature never waned and it was always contagious.

Anne is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Kevin of Mashpee, her son Kevin Shackett Jr. of Mashpee, her daughter Molly Auger and her husband Ray of Milford, MA. and her beloved, light-of-her life grandchildren; Braden, Jack and Annie. Anne also leaves eight sisters, Mary Lemay (predeceased), Kate Primeau, Jane McGuire, Madelyn Humenay, Margaret Buckley, Patricia Padula, Frances Padula and Elizabeth Stevens, two brothers, William Hennessey and Michael Hennessey and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life event will be held in her honor at a later date in the near future.
