Robert C. Atkins, of South Yarmouth, passed away peacefully at home on May 22nd. He was 86 years old. He was born in Haverhill, MA on May 30, 1925 to the late Myrtle and W. Russell Atkins. He was predeceased by his brothers Ralph and Eldred and his sister, Bernice Hosking. He is survived by his loving wife, Miriam, daughter, Carey Jaques, her husband Tim, and grandchildren Katherine and Christopher who brought him so much joy. He also leaves his twin brother Richard Atkins, brother Leslie Atkins, sister Lorene Birch, and brother-in-law Edward Stephens and his nephew, Reid Atkins and wife Jill, and children Joshua and Benjamin, and nephew Richard Hosking and wife Linda. He also leaves many dear friends.

He grew up in Saugus, MA, and enlisted in the Navy Armed Guard at age 17 during WWII. He married Miriam in 1959 and moved to Danvers, MA. He worked at Leader Last Company in Salem, MA, and then moved to the Cape in 1970 where he worked for the D-Y School System until retiring in 1985. He was an active member of the South Yarmouth United Methodist Church.

Visiting hours will be held at Morris, O’Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, S. Yarmouth, MA on Thursday May 24th from 4pm to 7pm. Memorial services will be held on Friday May 25th at 11:30 a.m. at the South Yarmouth United Methodist Church,322 Old Main Street, South Yarmouth. Burial to follow at the National Cemetery in Bourne.
